A win-win partnering opportunity

At BSP we believe in the power of collaboration – together we achieve more.

Over the past 13 years we have served hundreds of SME clients – most of which have been referred by our professional partner network of accountants, lawyers, solicitors, auditors, financial planners and migration agents.

We find there are many reasons why professional advisors choose to work with us on client matters including:

  • Our success in M&A over the past decade
  • To maintain independence on formal valuations or critical client decisions
  • To plug the gaps in their own “exit services” offering
  • Our credentials, Haydn Erbs – principal is a CAANZ Business Valuation Specialist and AIBB registered Business Broker
  • To tap into world class market intelligence
  • Our flexible, client centric approach to exits
  • Lack of time to run a sale campaign, or inability to work on a success fee basis

Generally speaking, we help advisors better serve their client’s needs through the delivery of specialised advice which in turn helps advisors maintain independence and focus on their own areas of strength. We will help you enhance your existing client relationship, maximise the potential value of your client’s business and help them achieve their exit goals. Its a win win for all parties.

Our CAANZ firm focuses solely on valuation and transactions advisory services (we don’t provide compliance, taxation or legal advice) and always refer such topics to existing advisors (you).

An overview of our process and key benefits of working with BSP is detailed below.

Our process

We respect that our referring partners have long established and deep relationships with their clients. Our aim is to enhance this by enabling existing advisors to lead their clients along the exit journey with BSP essentially plugging any gaps by providing complementary specialist services.  This approach brings many opportunities for you to deepen client relationships, maintain independence on critical touchpoints and benefit from new revenue opportunities.

From the client’s perspective we understand that exiting from a business is major life decision, a decision that is often complicated by a wide range of business and personal factors. We utilise a variety of specialist tools, resources and a systemised process for methodically working through this complexity in conjunction with existing advisors.

Partner revenue opportunities

For most business owners the pathway towards an exit resembles more of marathon than a sprint. Unplanned events aside – most exits are the culmination of several years of forward thinking, research and planning, preparation and finally execution. The actual exit is literally just the tip of the iceberg with 80% of exit advisory services delivered ahead of time.

From an advisory perspective, the journey towards an exit provides substantial opportunity to guide and prepare your client for a successful exit. This in turn presents a wide array of new revenue generating opportunities for professional service firms, including:

  • Taxation Advisory

    • Planning stage (understanding CGT implications)

Maintain independence

As a referring partner, we recognise your existing client relationship and the importance of maintaining this through your client’s complex, mission critical decisions associated with the exit process.

Outsourcing key decision inputs (such as business valuations or a business sale process) enables you to navigate around the dangers of “getting it wrong”, in effect, maintaining your independence, whilst simultaneously allowing you to focus your time on areas of strength.

Independence is also critical in the context of formal business valuations for the purpose of meeting regulatory obligations. Arguably long standing advisors lack independence in some situations and are consequently exposed to a variety of risks on review.

Mission critical strategic intelligence

We believe mission critical decisions should be based on world class research and intelligence.

We don’t rely on black box algorithms and instead prefer to utilise actual transactions data, public trading information and other sources of current, credible, independent and verifiable market data for inputs. We analyse and explain this in a simplified way that fosters collaboration, brainstorming and understanding.

By partnering with BSP your clients will benefit from accessing unmatched global M&A resources and industry intelligence which forms the basis of strategic exit planning or value growth initiatives as well as opt-in “exit related” educational content courtesy of our Value Builder System.
